Mechanical Engineering

Program Details

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students. The departmental faculties are highly dedicated, well-qualified and competent in teaching, research and building quality profile of students. The department provides a unique opportunity to study the exciting field with guidance.

The department is equipped with laboratories as per the university norms for hands-on training. The laboratories are also used for research work to showcase the ability through quality publications jointly with the students & research scholars.

The department computer centre is having the licensed software packages like Solid Edge –V19, Ansys-V18.0, Edge CAM v18 R2, and freeware like Fluid SIM, Fluid Power to provide software skills. The department faculty regularly apply for projects from national funding bodies like KSCST, DST, AR & DB, VGST, etc., contributing to significant improvements in the research environment.

The department has Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with various industries ranging from technical training establishments to manufacturing industries for transfer of knowledge through applied /advanced technology, internship, and project works.

The department has signed MoUs with industries, research and academic institutes namely Bhavani Industries, Grupo Antolin, Chaithanya Precision Pvt. Ltd., Distinct Productivity Solutions, Madhus Garage, Sona Group of Industries, Sree Mookambika Precision Industries, Kshipra Simulations Pvt. Ltd., Nikit Engineers, PEE Solar India, Mac Precitec India, Bengaluru, to name a few.

The department facilitates 100% internships to students in industries having MoU & institutes like IISc., KSCST, etc. The department has been consistently receiving funds from KSCST to carryout student projects. The department also encourages students to take up industry & research-oriented projects to make them industry ready.

The department regularly organizes events such as national conferences, technical talks by experts from industry & academia, industrial visits, Entrepreneurship Development Programs and training on mechanical modelling and also soft skill Training.

The department encourages faculty and students to attend workshops, conferences and training programs. The department encourages students to participate at university level sports activities & inter-college events.

The department has constituted a Department Advisory Board (DAB), an elite group that comprises members from academia, industry and research organizations. The DAB has been set up to take valuable suggestions and views on the activities happening in the department.

The department has established “B.V.V.S. AIeMS- Toyota Centre of Excellence” with the support of Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd., with an objective to impart technical skills pertaining to working of an IC Engine, maintenance, troubleshooting etc., to meet the needs of automobile industry in providing skilled trainees. The department has established “Centre of Excellence on Visualizing Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)” sponsored by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, in association with Altem Technologies.

The department students will be provided awareness and training about placements, higher education and entrepreneurial activities.
The students of the department are placed in Reputed Companies.
